Week1A: My Blog Theme
Hello and welcome to my blog for CSIT 155! I'm looking forward to dusting off my keyboard and honing my writing skills with these blog posts and taking a peek at my classmates' blogs as well.
Confession...I'm not exactly new to the Blogger world. I had a personal/private Blogger page I used sporadically throughout college. The content is MORTIFYING and I've scrubbed it from the Internet (hopefully...) but I blushed from my nose to my toes at the memory when I learned we would be using the platform for this course. I'm soldiering through and using it as a measure of how much I've grown and how proud I am of that angsty young woman for building a life she loves.
With that out of the way, I really didn't do anything too crazy when customizing the theme and appearance of my blog. I chose one of the Soho themes that caught my eye because of the pleasing colors and relaxed vibe. I tried to change the title font to one that isn't all capital letters because that tends to put me on edge but I couldn't quite figure it out. A YouTube deep dive for another day!
I swapped out the preset picture for another stock photo that Blogger offers. I chose a picture of the beach because I feel it reflects my life in it's current state. I take so much pride in building a life and growing my family in this beautiful county. I truly believe that San Diego is paradise on Earth, and I've lived in a myriad of beautiful places. While I miss the smell of the redwoods in Marin, the snowy mountains surrounding Salt Lake City, and the lush greenery of Eugene...nothing beats the beach!
I expect that I will change up the appearance of my blog a number of times throughout the semester as I dial in on the contents of the posts and direction of the class. For now, I'm keeping things simple and user friendly while I get to know the platform better. It's changed a lot since 2008! Hopefully the casual writing style isn't a problem for this initial post. As things progress I'm sure I will fall into a more professional cadence and style.
