Week 6 Part A: Engaging Your Customers - Facebook Strategy
Businesses I liked on Facebook-
City of Carlsbad
My Recreation Therapist, LLC
The Real Recreation Therapist
Recreation Therapist RX
Empower Recreational Therapy, LLC
Connect Through Leisure
The RT Tutor
Rec Therapy Directory
Recreation And Chill
Advocate Recreational Therapy
Recreation.gov
The Rec Toolkit
Moore Recreation Therapy & Consulting
MiraCosta College Counseling
I chose these businesses for a few reason. I chose some local resources, including the City of Carlsbad as these might serve as community partners. The rest of the businesses I followed were also in the rec therapy space. There are private practices like A Life Worth Living and also directories and hubs for rec therapy resources.
The City of Carlsbad has a great social media presence. They use both pictures and videos. The information is engaging but easy to read. I think they do a great job of promoting events. Customer engagement is decent, they usually have one-three shares and between 10-40 likes.
My Recreation Therapist, LLC is active and I enjoy their content. A good mix of sharing posts from relevant sources and creating their own. They use hashtags well. I can learn from their integrations to other social media sites.
MiraCosta College Counseling is effectively a dead page. They haven't posted in some time. I think I can learn how to remain relevant and also how to connect with similar pages so people can find my content even when not sharing frequently.
I love Recreation.gov. Their pictures are fantastic, they post daily, they feature a wide variety of parks and scenes. They have good engagement. A handful of shares, comments, and upwards of 50 likes. I took away the lesson that photography and imaging can really capture an audience's attention.
Rec Therapy Directory used to have a great social media presence but it seems like it has fallen off a bit. They were posting regularly until last year. I think the information they presented is fabulous but could use some aesthetic upgrades.
The RT Tutor also has fallen off of regular posting. I think that small businesses and entrepreneurs have a hard time keeping up. It would almost be best to take the page offline if it is dead. It's too bad because I love her infographics and she's offering an excellent service to a niche audience.
Empower Recreational Therapy, LLC does a great job with partnered posts. I think this is a great tool to get a bigger audience. They also do a great job of responding to customer comments on posts. They have a mix of photos, infographics, and videos. They could be more consistent with posting. Engagement is fairly small but this is to be expected with inconsistent posting.
Moore Recreation Therapy & Consulting has a really interesting post style, with lots of AI images and tons of information. She presents information well and it's easy to consume educational content. She also uses hashtags well. The page posts a few times a month with low engagement.
