Week 12 Part B: Business Specific Tools

This week I looked at posts from Vanessa, Coco, Savannah, and Katie.

I had some overlap in tools with each person. Nearly everyone mentioned LinkedIn groups, MeetUp, or Slack. The tools that people mentioned that I did not explore included Yelp, TikTok, Canva, and SoundCloud. The research that everyone did seemed to spark ideas about ways to use lesser known tools and platforms to benefit their niche industry needs.

Coco's ideas about using Canva for Teams were super interesting and showed how she is thinking of ways to build her team and efficiency in the future. I enoyed reading about Savannah's business pivot and how she envisioned using MeetUp to support folks that share her desire and need to functionally travel with their support stuffed animals. Katie's understanding of how customer feedback would benefit her business made a great case for using Yelp even with a tangible product. Vanessa's ideas about TikTok and Reels were fabulous, it's true that baking is a visual medium!

After reading everyone's blog posts I believe that Yelp and TikTok would be particularly helpful for my business. I think the local element of Yelp makes it really compelling for A Life Worth Living to focus on using. As for TikTok, I think people have a hard time visualizing what Recreational Therapy actually is and what it looks like in practice so having the visual piece of TikTok would be incredibly helpful.

Overall, it was really interesting to contemplate how different each of our businesses needs are. Some of us are offering a tangible product, others are selling a service, and some are digital products. There are certainly similarities between the tools we can use but it really requires understanding and mastery to most effectively use it for individual needs.
